Fix Up

An Original Steel Band Composition

Dedicated to the legacy of Dr. Cliff Alexis, Fix Up is an original calypso-style theme and variations work for steel band. Blending the rhythmic energy of the calypso tradition with contemporary harmonic colors, the piece explores a central theme through a series of musical transformations.

Written for advanced high school and collegiate steel bands, Fix Up challenges performers with intricate ensemble passages, dynamic contrasts, and opportunities for expressive stylistic interpretation. Above all, the work celebrates the versatility of the steel pan ensemble and pays tribute to Dr. Cliff Alexis and his lasting contribution to the steel band tradition.
